The BCAMA Board of Directors is made up of a group of volunteers who take on portfolios above and beyond what they do in their own careers. With the fast pace and continuously changing market trends, careers and personal life are often demanding enough, without adding to the mix. The dedication, expertise and energy of this group of professionals allows for the programming and initiatives you enjoy as a BCAMA member and supporter. 2015/2016 BCAMA Board

Diane Chung – President

Diane Chung, CPA, CMA, is the Vice-President of Marketing & Business Development for the Chartered Professional Accountants in BC. She currently oversees all provincial marketing, communications, and recruitment programs, and is Chair of two national subcommittees on recruitment and career support services. Since joining in 2012, Diane has been focused on the merger of the accounting profession and was a member of the national committee responsible for launching the CPA brand in 2013.

With over 10 years of professional services marketing experience, Diane was previously the national Director of Marketing & Business Development for a major law firm in Canada, and was the President and Treasurer of the Vancouver Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association.

Kim Breakell Mech – Immediate Past President

Kim is a seasoned marketer and has enjoyed more than 25 years in B2C and B2B marketing throughout North America and globally on both the client side and agency side. She has spent the past 2 years as the President of the BCAMA, guiding a talented board through a restructuring and was the catalyst behind the merger with the Association of Integrated Marketers (AIM). Prior to that, she was the Director, Senior Executive Program.

Her marketing experience spans the financial services sector (Central 1 & HSBC Bank Canada); telecommunications (Stentor Resource Centre); technology (Central 1 & Cinax Designs); tourism (Destination Canada and Air Canada) and package goods (Alberto Culver, Thomas J Lipton), where she combines her marketing experience and business acumen across a wide range of businesses.

Andrew Sharpe – President Elect

Andrew Sharpe is the founder & Chief Storytelling Officer for BRANDSPANK Retailer Marketing-an agency that specializes in user-experience & consumer engagement for bricks & mortar retailers.

A self-described retail marketing insight-er, Andrew is also a regular blog contributor to influential sites such as Retail Customer Experience. He’s also been a regular on-air guest on both CBC and Global News, for retail and marketing related topics.

For over 20 years (including working client-side as interim Director of Marketing with a national franchised company), Andrew has been instrumental at developing brand strategies and creating compelling stories for dozens of regional, national and international retail organizations. Prior to launching his own agency, Andrew also exercised the other side of his brain a freelance copywriter for almost 5 years at various boutique and multinational agencies throughout the city.

Regina Leung – Director at Large

With over 15 years of experience in the software industry working for numerous companies, Regina is skilled in digital branding, clients and sales development, capital development, project management, product analysis and the development of service solutions. She currently acts as an independent consultant for emerging software companies and is also the operating partner of Global Recycling, an international trade organization that facilitates digital trading in recyclable materials. Regina is responsible for its client and sales development, internal/external trading strategies and the implementation of digital business and marketing strategies targeting North America and Asia. Through her experiences, she has developed an assertive, people-oriented approach complemented by strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Regina holds a B.Sc. in Business from University of Minnesota where she specialized in strategic management and corporate communications.

BJ Gordon, Director, Treasurer

BJ has many years of business and leadership experience as a CFO, Director and consultant in a variety of industries, with both large and small enterprises. She has been CFO/Corporate Secretary for multi-national companies, including both publicly traded and private organizations. She also has experience volunteering on the Board of a non-profit entity. Ms. Gordon is the Principal of Innovative Corporate Solutions Inc. which was established to provide advice and support to business owners, executives and entrepreneurs with strategic, operational and financial challenges.

BJ has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and CPA, CA designations.

Nick Sywulych – Director of Senior Executive Program

Nick Sywulych is the Director of Retention Marketing at the British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA), with responsibility for Membership, Insurance, Evo Car Share and Auto Service Centre retention, the partner loyalty program, and growing products per household. Prior to joining BCAA, he worked as the Director of Retail Marketing at Rogers Communications.

Nick’s greatest strengths are his creativity, passion and leadership. He thrives on challenges, particularly those that send others screaming and running out of the building. With over 15 years of experience he has worked in all areas of marketing, and is known for his ability to think strategically while delivering flawless tactical execution. He has managed large marketing teams, agency relationships and budgets both within British Columbia and across Canada.

Nick is a collaborative leader that works to deliver an amazing customer experience. He was awarded Leadership in Action awards at both Rogers and BCAA. He has worked on several award winning campaigns and was part of the 2002 Rogers team that won the BC AMA Marketer of the Year. Nick served on committees that brought Vancouver the first Rogers Santa Claus Parade as well as the Sports Celebrities Festival gala supporting Special Olympics BC and the Canucks for Kids Fund.

Nick grew up in Vancouver and has education from the University of British Columbia, the British Columbia Institute of Technology and a bachelors degree from Simon Fraser University.

Lionel Matecha – Director of Digital

Lionel Matecha is an account director at Graphically Speaking where he continues to provide web marketing strategy and planning for a wide variety of clients since 2003. His experience with web development and online marketing has continued to evolve since the mid-90s. Lionel’s business credits include ten years served as vice president of a marketing and design firm that specialized in the North American technology industry. He has also worked extensively in the technology and business magazine industry.

A graduate of Simon Fraser University’s Executive MBA program, Lionel also holds a diploma in Graphic and Communication Arts and is designated as a Certified Internet Marketing Business Strategist by IIMA, the International Internet Marketing Association. Lionel has been a guest speaker on Internet topics for organizations such as the BC Technology Industries Association and has volunteered with other associations including New Media BC and the International Association of Business Communicators.

Pauline Craggs – CMA, Accountant

Pauline has over 20 years of accounting experience with a large international company that performed in various business cultures, regulations, and currencies. She is currently engaged as a Financial Analyst for a Crown corporation in the telecom industry. She is analytical in process improvement and has a strong focus in risk management and revenue assurance. She has an appetite for continuous improvement, creativity, and innovated techniques for growth.

Jordan Eshpeter – Director Educational Series

Jordan is Head of Growth and Engagement at Invoke, a leading Vancouver based digital agency. He helps guide companies into bolder digital futures, such as leading organizations like the National Hockey League, TELUS, Overwaitea Food Group, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Earls Kitchen & Bar, Modo The Car Coop and Imperial College London. Jordan fosters a forward-looking curiosity, he’s also Ambassador for Hyper Island, and an aspiring futurist.

With the 2015 merger with the Association of Integrated Marketers (AIM), the executive at AIM and BCAMA appointed Jordan to lead the transition of key AIM programs and membership. He is a key member of the BCAMA Executive helping to lead the strategic direction of BCAMA.

Frankie Aeng – Co-Director Marketer of the Year

Frankie is a Research Manager at Lux Insights, a leading market research firm based in BC. As a well-rounded researcher, she leads and provides supports on projects including research methodology/design, moderating/interviewing, data analysis and reporting. With research, she has helped companies such as Vancouver Aquarium, Nintendo Canada, Tyson Foods, Tourism Vancouver and Oppenheimer Group.

Previously, Frankie served as the logistic manager for Vision 2016, and before that she assisted with the Breakfast Speaker Series from 2013-2015. As the co-director of Marketer of the Year, Frankie is excited to celebrate and recognize great marketing initiatives in BC, and to help contribute to the growth and education of the BC marketing community.

Charlotte Ruttle – Co-Director Marketer of the Year

Charlotte is an Engagement Strategist at Domain7, a Vancouver based digital agency, where she collaborates with clients and the Domain7 team to create innovative, empathetic digital experiences that help organizations grow and communities connect. Collaborative partners include Vancouver Economic Commission, Nurse Next Door, Pacific Health Innovation Exchange and more.

Previously, Charlotte served as the logistic manager for BCAMA’s VISION conference 2016. As the co-director of Marketer of the Year, Charlotte is excited to celebrate and recognize great marketing initiatives in BC, and to help contribute to the growth and education of the BC marketing community.

Michelle Cunningham – Director Thought Leadership Series

Michelle’s career started as part of a digital startup company: Metrolyrics.com.  As its first employee, she was part of the accelerated growth, which saw the company expansion from a 3-person startup into an overnight success & eventual exit. After CBS Interactive acquired the company in 2011, Michelle made the transition into the sales and product teams in the Tech Games and Lifestyle division.  There she built digital products and executed online advertising campaigns for multi-national brands and agencies.

In 2014, Michelle joined Mediative in sales, but made a rapid move upward to lead Retail Vertical for the Enterprise Client Development Team. She is now involved in a multitude of marketing, programmatic media & sales projects.

Michelle is an active and highly involved industry leader. She is a member of the CPAX (Canadian Publisher Audience Exchange) council and the IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) West & Programmatic Committees. She prides herself on her ability to immerse head first into the latest digital marketing & advertising products & strategies.

As the BCAMA board Director of the Thought Leadership Series she will ensure that the BC market continues to be informed and educated on the latest topics in the marketing industry.

Christian Westin – Director Partnerships

Christian, holds a business degree and marketing diploma, and has experience in event planning, logistics, and sponsorship development. He is passionate about ensuring excellence and creating mutually-beneficial sponsor partnerships, and is excited to help further BCAMA’s mission to be a thought-leader for the marketing community.

Andre Bussanich- Director of Creative

Andre is the Creative Director at NGX Interactive, pushing new and compelling storytelling ideas in the digital space. He works with amazing, talented people to create immersive digital experiences and touch interactivity for the masses. He has primarily focussed on educational and interpretive projects for museums, science centres, educational institutions, sporting events, discovery centres and other marketing initiatives. Andre has over 20 years experience in visual arts and design with a strong focus on UX/VX (user experiences/visitor experiences).

Ryan Hoye – Director Information Technology

Ryan Hoye is an information technologist with the Vancouver Club. He is someone who understands the technological process in a business or operation and can help define the future of that process, or the future of that business in a world that is changing every second of every day.

Ryan is focused mostly on the integration of Apple products into businesses to make them leaner and more efficient, he as experience in bringing the state of the art from ten, twenty, and sometimes thirty years ago, into the present.

Marie Claire Gabriel – Director of Project Management

Marie Claire is an analytical and creative project manager working for Nurio Technology. She is able to bring diverse groups of people together to form highly effective teams with the unified objective of meeting stretch goals set before them. I provide balance between meeting rigid process and specification requirements and finding resourceful solutions to road blocks that pop up along the way.

Using solid project management skills she leads project teams through the pressures of working in a fast paced results-oriented environment, but can also help navigate through the ambiguities of ever changing customer requirements.

Jon Malach – Director of Experiential

As the CEO of NativeAds.com, Jon has been assisting brands to tell stories online through native advertorial content and video. The definition of “Native” in advertising means to fit the form and function of the environment, where the advertisement itself can stand on its own and offer a value to the consumer. Jon has embraced out of the box approaches to campaign design, he was early to employ both Augmented and Virtual Reality as mediums for online storytelling and onsite activations. He sees the XM event as a great opportunity to further harvest early adopters who push the limits of both technology and creativity to deliver truly immersive brand experiences. When asked to describe what differentiates the XM event he is directing in June of 2017, Jon explains “Most events tend to review existing best practices, with the XM event we are too busy creating new ones”

Jon is an avid Martial Artist and enjoys applying the principles such as to lead by example in his professional career in order to inspire others to reach their full potential. Jon also moonlighted as a DJ for over 15 years, playing under the alias “JIAL-14” for various radio stations and night clubs.
