Digital Agency Panel #7 of 7 – Sean Tyson, Invoke Media

by Bruce Nickson

The final event in this year’s BCAMA Evening Speaker Series (ESS) – a Digital Agency Panel, which will be held from 6 pm to 9 pm tomorrow (May 8) at The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver – promises to be action packed! Seven of Vancouver’s brightest sparks in the digital marketing space each have seven minutes to tell us what’s happening in the digital world in 2013. The panel will be moderated by Steven Cox, who brought Pecha Kucha Night to Vancouver, and the individual presentations will be followed by by a Q&A session.

We’ve decided to give you a sneak preview of the event by asking each participant to complete a Marketline Blog version of the Proust Questionnaire, and to keep their answers to no more than 140 characters. We’re posting one questionnaire (in no particular order) each workday, leading up to the event. Our last post, but by no means least, we’re featuring Sean Tyson, Director of Strategy & Business Development at Invoke Media.

What trait do you most value in your colleagues? Integrity. There are nice guys, good guys, and rotten guys. I’m only interested in working with good guys because good guys have integrity.

An example of a (god-awful) digital campaign that no one should emulate? I don’t know – I see so many of them.

An example of a digital campaign that marketers can learn from? http://www.thefuntheory.com

What marketing skill do you lack and are working on learning? SEO/SEM. I used to think it was spammy/black hat but it’s actually really effective and really important.

What is your current state of mind? Slightly anxious. I’m working on Invoke’s next big idea and HootSuite is a tough act to follow.

The Marketline Blog version of the Proust Questionnaire was coordinated by Bruce Nickson. Bruce is employed in the sales and marketing of engineering services and is embarking on (yet another) startup in the technology space.
