Hyperfragmentation: The Rise of Personalized Media

Co-presenters: Rick Sanderson, General Manager, OMD Vancouver
Barbara Davidson, Strategy Supervisor, OMD Vancouver

The consumer’s media choices have exploded over the past 20 years. Advancements in technology are driving the way we interact with media, making the industry more and more personalized. Today the end-user is empowered with ever increasing ‘control’ over what they choose to view leaving advertisers and content providers with less control and impact when using traditional media. Personalized Media is here to stay. But how long before this new form of media truly takes hold? Can we survive?

Come find out about the future of personalized media and what you need to know about Blog’s, Podcasts and DVR’s. Rick Sanderson and Barbara Davidson, leading media strategists, will show marketers and advertisers how to co-exist in this ever increasing competitive and personalized media environment.

Rick Sanderson has over 20 years in media experience in Toronto and Vancouver. Prior to joining OMD, he was Media Director at TBWA where he led the Coca Cola account, managing a team of 15 media planners, buyers and support staff on a national budget of $40 million. OMD’s current clients include McDonald’s, TELUS, ICBC, BC Dairy, Century 21, BC Ferries, BMW, FedEx, Esso, Dell, Chrysler, Nissan, Apple, Bayer, Absolut and Beiersdorf. In 2004, Rick was presented
with the “Friend of the Industry” award from the British Columbia Association of Broadcasters.

Barbara has worked in media at OMD for over 8 years. Throughout her career, she has worked on such accounts as McDonald’s, Weight Watchers, Richmond Centre, KVOS, TELUS, SUPERPAGES and Sun-Rype, managing budgets ranging up to $10 million. In her supervisory capacity, Barb is the lead media planner and buyer for her current list of accounts at OMD.
