BCAMA Grey Vancouver Speaker Series

Winter of Discontent: Vancouver Canucks 2005-2006 Re-launch Strategy

Paul Dal Monte, Director, Marketing - Vancouver Canucks
November 23, 2005

Since 1999, Vancouver Canucks fans have gone from anger and even apathy, to truly loving their team. However, despite the positive strides made by the team in recent years, the looming work stoppage in 2004 promised to bring a “winter of discontent.” The Canucks faced a significant challenge – sustaining a strong relationship and bond with fans during the work stoppage.

Join Paul Dal Monte as he discusses how the Canucks addressed this challenge by:

Creating a “Firewall” between Canucks & Fans <//> Union vs. Owners – As for the Work Stoppage – Adversity was their Opportunity
Strengthening the bond with both the fans and the hockey community in BC.
Avoiding “Business” and focusing exclusively on what everyone had in common – Love of Hockey

Paul Dal Monte currently oversees marketing, advertising, and creative for the Vancouver Canucks. He joined Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment in June 1995, working for both the Vancouver Canucks and Vancouver Grizzlies. In addition to his role with the Canucks, he also served as the Director of Operations and Alternate Governor for the Vancouver Ravens of the National Lacrosse League. Event Details:
