In a rare glimpse into the exciting sports shoe market, Chuck McBride talks about the strategy, creative and launch of the new “adidas_1” shoe. Internally, Adidas’ “Impossible is Nothing” positioning has brought greater focus to the company’s mission, making their shoes lighter, better and more advanced than ever before. He explains how a small box allows for creative freedom in a business that’s a game of inches. Chuck’s award-winning work, experience and candor make for an event not to be missed. Chuck McBride began his career in San Diego at Franklin & Associates; next came Lexus at Team One Advertising in Los Angeles, Subaru at Wieden & Kennedy/Philadelphia; then Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco, where he worked on Isuzu and launched the “Got Milk?” campaign; Levi’s at Foote, Cone & Belding followed. He then reunited with Wieden to work on Nike. In 15 years,
Chuck has garnered every major creative and effectiveness award in the business including an Emmy. He was named Creative all-star in ‘99 and MVP in ‘01 by AdWeek Magazine.
Since being at TBWA\Chiat\Day\SF he has lead a group of people to be ranked twice in the top ten creative agencies of the world by the Gunn Report with his work on Fox Sports and Adidas. At the ‘05 festival, he won more Cannes Film Lions
than any other US agency.
