The
BCAMA's Privacy Policy
Our Commitment
It is the British Columbia Chapter
of the American Marketing Association’s (BCAMA) commitment
to maintain the principles of integrity and trust with respect
to the protection of personal information we collect. As part
of our commitment, the BCAMA will protect the privacy of personal
information of its members, non-members, sponsors and other
individuals whose personal information is in the BCAMA’s possession.
From time to time this policy may be amended or updated
and any such amendments will be effective once they are
posted to this website.
Definitions
"Business contact information" means
information that enables an individual to be contacted
at work, including his/her name, title, business address,
business telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address.
”Personal information" is
information about an identifiable individual, but does
not include business contact information or work product
information.
Responsibility
The BCAMA is responsible for all personal
information under its control, even if it is not in its
possession.
The BCAMA has developed policies and procedures to deal
with the proper collection, use and disclosure of personal
information.
Purpose
The BCAMA does not collect personal information directly;
however, it does collect personal information through
its membership registration process that is administered
by its parent body the American Marketing Association www.marketingpower.com
The information collected is strictly for internal purposes
only [in order to serve our professional members, student
members and bridge members and to update all members with
BCAMA event information.
Consent
The BCAMA requires the consent of individuals to
collect, use or disclose personal information. The BCAMA
will not
use or disclose personal information already collected
for other purposes unless it receives the consent of the
individual to whom the information belongs. The BCAMA will
seek consent to use and/or disclose personal information
at the same time as it collects the information.
Collection
The BCAMA will only collect personal information
for the purposes it has identified at the time of collection.
The
BCAMA will only collect personal information through methods
that are lawful, will not collect information indiscriminately
and will only collect personal information directly from
the individual concerned.
Use,
Disclosure and Retention
The BCAMA will only use or disclose
personal information for the purpose(s) for which it was
collected.
The BCAMA may disclose the personal information to:
a company or individual engaged by the BCAMA to perform functions
on its behalf, such as research or data processing; a company
or individual engaged by the BCAMA to administer benefits to
its membership on the BCAMA’s behalf,
such as magazine subscriptions, 3rd party obligation
to confidentiality.
Additionally, BCAMA may send you, from time to time, e-mail
or other communications. We may use your personal information,
or your business contact information, to contact and correspond
with you, send you information about BCAMA we feel may
be of interest to you, to respond to your inquiries and
enhance and assist with your membership experience. If
you prefer not to receive this type of information, please

Accuracy of Personal Information
The BCAMA will make reasonable
efforts to ensure that personal information in its control
is accurate and complete.
Individuals may request corrections to their personal information
by sending the correct information to
info@bcama.com. Safeguarding Personal Information
The BCAMA will protect
personal information in its control against risks of loss,
theft, unauthorized access, disclosure,
copying, use, modification or destruction by security safeguards
that are appropriate to the sensitivity and format of the
information.
Access
Upon reasonable written notice from an individual the BCAMA
will provide access to all his/her personal information
in the BCAMA’s possession and advise the individual
what the information is being used for and to whom it has
been disclosed.
Complaints
An individual who has complaints about how his/her personal
information is being handled by the BCAMA may file a
written complaint with the BCAMA by e-mail to
info@bcama.com.
Such complaints must clearly state the nature of the dispute and contain all
necessary contact information for the complainant.
